Зв On October 30, members of the Laboratory Vladimir Rozov and Oleg Sokolov took part in the conference “Scripturesof the East: Problems of Translation and Interpretation” at the Institute of Asian and African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow). Vladimir Rozov presented report “Sound Symbolism in the Quran: Functional and Comparative Analysis” and Oleg Sokolov spoke about Arabographic manuscripts from the collection of the Gorky Library at Saint Petersburg State University as sources for studying the rites of passage among Muslims of the Volga-Ural region.

About 30 reports were presented at the conference by the researchers from academic and educational institutions of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Kazan and Olomouc (Czech Republic).
