The delegation of Hamad bin Khalifa University (Qatar) headed by Adam al-Saadi, Director of Public Relations and Student Affairs visited Saint Petersburg University. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the English-language educational programs of graduate and post-graduate programs at St. Petersburg State University, as well as to establish scientific cooperation.
Professor of St. Petersburg State University , Deputy Head of the Laboratory, O. Redkin suggested coworking with the Qatari side in the areas of translation from Russian into Arabic and interdisciplinary studies on politics, economics and intercultural communication. He added that this year took place the first graduation of students of the new educational program “Islamic Studies”. Gradautes of the Programm received high appointments from the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation.
The head of the Qatari delegation, Mr. Adam al-Saadi, gave a presentation to participants about Hamad bin Khalifa University and introduced the meeting participants to the university’s priority areas of study, including computer and engineering sciences, law and general politics, healthcare and biology, Islamic studies (Islamic financing), humanities and social sciences. The university consists of six colleges and three research institutes that are engaged in finding solutions relevant to Qatar and other countries of the world. For example, one of these institutes is studying environmental issues and alternative electricity, while the other is computer technology and artificial intelligence. The head of the delegation added that about 82% of graduates find jobs in prestigious Qatari and international organizations or continue their studies at prestigious universities in the USA and Europe. He also underlined that cooperation with foreign partners is especially important for the university, and suggested to find fruitful areas of scientific and educational cooperation.
Following the meeting, both sides agreed to exchange information, as well as discuss the possibility of holding a conference on one of the areas of mutual scientific interest.
