Head of the Arabic Philology Department, professor Oleg Redkin currently takes part in the International Exhibition and Conference on Higher Education (IECHE-2014), held in the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Riyadh from 16 to 19 April 2014. 4th year student Oleg Sokolov took part in the XXXVI Annual Session of St Petersburg Arabists, held from April, 7-9, at the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts. The title of his report was “The Genre of Historical Novel in the Modern Yemen Literature”. New interview with Alexander Knysh “SPbSU will learn what Islam is nowadays” was published in the issue of the “Saint-Petersburg University” magazine.

On 13 of February, 2013 were issued the certificates of retraining program: “Arabic language and technical means of training”, developed by the Laboratory staff: O.I. Redkin and O.A. Bernikova. One of the students who received the certificate was D.Ulanova, the Project participant.

A regular thematic seminar on the use of Data Mining for materials in the Arabic language was conducted on January, 15. N.A. Kizhaeva made a presentation. This seminar is organized on the regular basis by employee of the Laboratory, prof. O.N. Granichin.

The leading researcher of the Laboratory, professor  O.I. Redkin won the award “For pedagogical skills” in the annual competition held in SPSU. Here is an opportunity to see the video of the lectures presented to the competition.

On December 23, 2013 A.D. Knysh spoke at the meeting of the Academic Council of St. Petersburg State University with a scientific report: “Political Islam and Islamism: theory and practice in comparative and historical perspective”.

The Seminar was held under the supervision of prof. Alexander D. Knysh in person on December 19th, 2013 at 16:00.

On 19 – 20 of December, 2013 the conference “Islam in Russia: Science and Education” took place. It was organized by the State Museum of Hermitage. Members of the Laboratory participated in the Conference and A.D. Knysh made ​​a presentation on the objectives and tasks of the Laboratory.

The Head of Laboratory A.D. Knysh participated as a speaker and moderator in the III International Forum “Islam in multicultural world: “Muslim movements and mechanisms of reproduction of Islamic ideology in the Contemporary Information Environment”. The Forum was held from 13 to 17 November, 2013 in Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan).
